Bringing together our university-wide human resources professionals to learn about the potential and efficiencies to be gained through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), as well as to challenge previously held beliefs about AI.
On July 11, 2024, USC’s Human Resources community gathered for AI in HR: Facts, Myths, and the Future, a business forum focused on the potential of AI in HR and educating employees on the technology’s future and its potential applications in the workplace.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Exploring AI: Participants dived into the world of AI with a foundational session led by Deloitte on its core concepts, capabilities, limitations, and risks, equipping attendees with essential insights into its potential to reshape workflows.
- Ideating and developing AI applications: Working together in small groups, HR staff explored use cases to address challenges – identifying AI-driven solutions to increase efficiency, improve data accuracy, and enhance the employee experience – and then further defined and developed many of those use cases.
- Engaging with real-world AI applications: A highlight of the day was the Gallery Walk, where attendees interacted with cutting-edge AI tools like a Status Report Generator and Mock Interview software, discussing their potential applicability to USC.
By the session’s close, the 228 HR members left with actionable insights on harnessing AI to support work, streamline processes, and boost productivity.
